Trained in Bharatnatyam under Guru Krishna A Mani, who was a student of great Gurus Laxmikantam and Kittappa Pillai; her performances have been telecast on Doordarshan. She established Nritya Prerana School of Dance in 1984 with her Guru’s blessings.
She has performed widely in India, including at famous Natyanjali Dance festival in all 5 major temples of Tamil Nadu, as well as abroad for World Dance Congress and UNESCO in Greece as well as in Germany. She has conceptualized and choreographed several dance dramas namely Kunti - Ek Katha, Samudramanthan, Jainism , Deepshikha,Rabindranath Tagore’s dance dramas Mayaar Khaela and Shishuteerth that have been widely performed and acclaimed. The most recent dance drama “Shaktidaatri-Daughters of the Soil” presented in November’2022 was a grand success. This dance drama will be taken all over India. Over 120 students have performed Arangetram under her guidance.
Her pioneering work in holding Nritya Sabhas for many years is coveted by dancers to perform in. Nritya sabha has had well known performers from over the globe conducting workshops, training young artists in various aspects of classical dance forms and glorious performances in Pune. She has choreographed and directed a dance sequence for the movie Mani Mangalsutra along with Saroj Khan.
A trained psychologist and a social worker
A trained psychologist from Ruparel College and a social worker from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, her work in creating Suchitra's Nritya Therapy (SNT- Nrutyopchar) has been widely covered all over the world. She was recently invited to demonstrate SNT on the NDTV Swasth Bharat telethon 2021 with Amitabh Bacchan and Pranoy Roy sharing dias with her.
Many students have learnt SNT under Nritya Therapy a 3 month certificate course run by the Institute. Nrityaprerana Institute along with Preranadham Counselling Centre holds free sessions for parkinsons affected, arthritis, diabetes, Equinox difficulties, autism, visually challenged, brain stroke, women in 40’s through module created by her named “Nritya For Body and Soul“ on Saturdays.
A documentary on her work using Bharatnatyam for therapy called 'Dancing away your Blues" is regularly telecast on TV. Performances held by her & her disciples can be viewed on youtube under Nrityaprerana Channel
